Performing at Starlight

We know all our Starlighters are performers at heart, after all who doesn’t dance around the living room to their favourite songs? But we encourage our Stars to go one or two steps further and perform on stage in a multitude of venues.

We do an annual pantomime at the Palace theatre which is a great success every year with the children playing all the parts and ensemble with our small supporting male cast who are family to the children. We have done this every year for 34 years apart from when the theatre was closed for renovation and then we did a Christmas show instead.

Over the years the children have also danced at the Alexandra Theatre, Core Theatre, Artrix theatre, Greig theatre, Old Rep, and countless school fetes, carnivals and small shows in other venues. We have appeared with many travelling professional companies including Pasha (from Strictly), Vienna Ballet and were due to dance at the Birmingham Hippodrome amongst other shows which have been postponed this year due to covid.

Festivals form an important part of our extra curriculum life as well which give the children chance to have fun competing against other schools and gives them life skills which transfer easily into main stream roles.
